Min Kamp
Karl Ove Knausgård
Sterben Lieben Kämpfen · in a version by Yana Ross · German translation by Paul Berf and Ulrich Sonnenberg
Premiere 01.03.2024Berliner Ensemble, Großes Haus2 h 25 min, no interval
I was likewise wholly unprepared for the power of Yana Ross’s Sterben Lieben Kämpfen at the Berliner Ensemble … perhaps my favourite piece of the year.
No one could have expected Ross to transform Knausgård’s text into such first-rate feminist theatre.
As a feminist, Ross goes right into the places where it hurts.
The confrontation with the hated father and the image of masculinity he handed down is the soul of the performance.
